Library Program Brings Miracles and Surprises to Children

The library in the Rosalind Gurwin JCC, which was built with support from JDC Board member Joseph Gurwin, is a treasury of Jewish knowledge and wisdom.

The various programs for children and adults that take place at the library are:

  • Literary Hall
  • Rosh Chodesh Program
  • Children's programs
  • Program for Jewish school students
  • Story Hour – special program for children with special needs in the Tikvah Program
  • Program for Mazel Tov parents
  • Treasure of Jewish Literature
  • Integration program with Hesed "Talking Book" club

The library at the Rosalind Gurwin JCC always welcomes Hesed clients, JCC participants of all ages, volunteers and guests from city organizations to take part in meetings with Jewish writers, poets and musicians and presentations of new books and movies. The library's children's programs are popular among the youngest members of the community who often are reading Jewish literature for the first time. While the children take part in joyful competitions, their parents prepare sketches based on stories from Jewish history.

On the first Sunday of each month, the library invites children and their parents to meet with their favorite book heroes. The children look forward to these meetings as they know that miracles and surprises wait for them.
